Albany

Dirkie and Wimpie are both very chuffed that they arrived in Melbourne before us and has, reportedly, arrived with wagging tails at the kennels. Thats my boys!

Day1 of the Road Trip started with a bang!

First day in Albany starts with free, all-you-can-eat, French style orange and butter pancakes. What a way to start the day!

The wind farm in Albany was much more spectacular in real life, with the blades of the turbine each clocking an impressive 34m, the length of a boeing 747 wing - EACH!

Evidence that we were actually there.

We then visited the Whaling Station at the Torndirrup National Park

The last whale in Australia was harpooned on 21 November 1978, which was a few inches below the allowed size and therefor incurred a $2000 fine. This was after the whaling industry started, with an annual quota of 16 000 whales! In Albany, Australia, alone!

We then visited the Blowholes close by, which were just incredible - the pressure of the waves from underneath the rocks make an incredible noice and sometimes even pushes through water spray.

The views at the Blowholes

Evidence - at the Blowholes

Huge uphill ahead!

The Gap and Natural Bridge

Here Hezel rescued my hat after it was taken by gale force wind. Okay, maybe not gale force, but it blew my hat right off!

Apart from these we also visited the Granite Skywalk, Little Beach - more photos to follow. What an incredible first day of the Road Trip to Mebourne!
